Stay rooted in place | Embrace Identity

Kindred

June 2015

Project Role:

Curator

Your roots are a place that you will always be connected with your ancestral homeland(s). Your space is a temporary place that you occupy to grow new roots. As a tree does; nurture your roots, new and old, to evolve and manifest your identity.

Kindred brought together a selection of work by five New Zealand studio furniture designers — Kennedy Brown, David Hakaraia, David Trubridge, Tim Wigmore and Carin Wilson — who each offer a new perspective on what it might mean to work within a diverse cultural environment, and specifically what it means to work within a context informed by both European and indigenous influences.
